Land Back

PENN MUSEUM SECOND SUNDAY CULTURE FILMS

Indigenous people and communities have honored and protected natural lands around the world for centuries. From the eco-religion of the Bishnoi founded in 1485 to #NoDAPL and other modern day movements, land defenders have been motivated by the right to safe, healthy environments and a responsibility to care for and honor ancestral lands. Penn Museum's 2023–2024 culture film series Land Back is a celebration of the generations of revolutionary indigenous land defenders resisting harmful practices and protecting lands against destruction, pollution, privatization, and climate change.
