The Ward: Race and Class in Du Bois' Seventh Ward is a teaching, research, and public history project dedicated to sharing the timeless lessons on race and racism from WEB Du Bois' 1899 classic book, The Philadelphia Negro. Three faculty collaborators engage participants in brainstorming and innovation exercises to identify ways The Ward can use new technologies to engage new audiences. This event was held in the new Collaborative Classroom in the Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center, which features five projectors and wrap-around dry-erase surfaces used to visually hash out the desirability, viability, and feasibility of our new ideas and new audiences.
