Timethius J. Terrell

Artist

Created by Penn C'24 alum and Bangkok Pride Award nominee Timethius J., in collaboration with several artists from the African and Asian diasporas, The 'Six Stages of Modern Connection" is an international, immersive mixed media (poetry + photography) exhibition that captures the mirrored stories of two young queer men—one of whom is Black and the other Asian—and their journey towards finding one another.

Timethius J. Terrell is a cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Linguistics. His work focuses on institutional reform and ethical decision-making. Through collaborations with educational institutions, Timethius has led workshops promoting intercultural allyship and coalition-building within higher education spaces. He serves on the Penn Center for AIDS Research Community Advisory Board (CFAR CAB), and he has presented his research at prominent conferences, including the Association for Psychological Science (APS) Annual Convention. He was the youngest inductee into the Middle Georgia State University Psi Chi International Psychology Honor Society chapter— an achievement he maintained upon his transfer to Penn. His contributions have been recognized with honors such as the Penn Student Government Public Service Fellowship grant, the Martin Luther King Jr. Award for Outstanding Leadership and Service, and selection as a Fulbright Research Award alternate.

Sponsored by the Sachs Program for Arts Innovation, Penn Office of Social Equity and Community, Penn LGBT Center, Faculty of Communication Arts at Chulalongkorn University, CU Nitade Extension, Foundation for SOGI Rights and Justice, Proudly Collective, Luka Cafe, the COLOURS Organization, and Wolf Humanities Center.
